Romita and Ross 1970's Goodness

Ahh, a wondrous pairing of two favorite artists

whose work goes together seamlessly!

John Romita, Senior does some of his most

personal characters at Marvel, with

some rockin' Seventies Goodness vibing!

Alex Ross covers him with his own style

while maintaining the Main Man's core!

Perfect!

Sexy Comic Guys

Mmmnn...Blue Falcon!
I was always a sucker for that form, that

voice, and that impenetrable aloofness!

Nothing says good-lovin' like a man

willing to wear nothin' but a loincloth!

Some incredible, sexy 1960s work by

the inimitable Don Newton.

He had such an exquisite eye for

beautiful physiques!

Ah, the old standard; Ted Grant,

Wildcat!

Here, Kitty Kitty!
Mr. Steve Sadowski does us fans right!

Oh my...another 'Big Daddy'

Wildcat by Steve!

And the King of all 'Daddy' art,

Mr. Alex Ross...doing a Jimmy Corrigan piece...

and a lovely contemplative Kal...

shirt pried open and legs spread in wait.

Yikes!

Super-Friends Love

First, the original line-ups, including some

gorgeous art by Alex Toth, the story-board master,

character designer,

and artist extraordinaire.

And ultimately...

And now let the homages begin!

Looking Good: Justice League of America

The JLA's 'Satellite Era' was for me--like many old timers--their 'best' stories.

I love this line-up for many reasons, as this was the period when all of the family dynamics between all the various members were established. (Steve Englehart and Gerry Conway in particular did phenomenal work.)

This piece was done by the incomparable Alex Ross for a cover/poster for Wizard Magazine, if I recall correctly. Beautiful stuff. The muted colors, the personalities displayed, the familiarity, and of course, Hal Jordan's enormous tool box!

This pic encapsulates every good memory of that extraordinary time in comics. Enjoy!
